SkyCity Adelaide re-opened following South Australia lockdown re-think

In Australia and casino operator SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has reportedly announced that its SkyCity Adelaide facility has been re-opened after the local government reversed a range of recently-introduced lockdown restrictions.

According to a report from Inside Asian Gaming, the Wellington and Sydney-listed firm revealed that its sole gambling-friendly property in South Australia was completely shuttered from Wednesday evening as part of a six-day lockdown the state initiated so as to help stop the spread of coronavirus. The source reported that this campaign was instigated after a local pizza shop worker picked up the potentially-deadly infection while volunteering at a quarantine hotel in Adelaide.

Murky movements:

However, local health authorities reportedly later decided to cut short the duration of this lockdown to just three days after it emerged that the infected man had been less than truthful regarding his travels immediately after coming down with the highly-infectious illness.

Substantial structure:

Also responsible for the SkyCity Auckland, SkyCity Hamilton and SkyCity Queenstown properties in New Zealand, SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited purchased the iconic Adelaide Casino venue from the government of South Australia in 2000 before rebranding the property as SkyCity Adelaide a year later. The facility is home to several bars, restaurants and functions rooms as well as a 129,000 sq ft casino featuring a selection of some 950 slots and around 90 gaming tables.

Future extension:

SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited reportedly moreover explained that its SkyCity Adelaide development has now re-opened for certain top membership tiers albeit under a range of anti-coronavirus social distancing protocols that are limiting table places and setting the maximum capacity for several areas at 100 people. The firm has purportedly revived operations only a week after pronouncing that it was to delay the launch of a planned $240 million expansion that is to eventually see the city center Adelaide property add the 120-room Eos by SkyCity luxury hotel.
