WarHorse Gaming, the economic development arm of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, released a conceptional rendering this week, revealing details regarding a new casino in Lincoln. The new facility will be located at the Lincoln Race Course. The rendering showed off the interior and exterior of the upcoming property, with as much as $200 million being invested into the expansion.
Details of the Rendering
The rendering, which can be found here, provides a glimpse of what players can expect from the new venue. The exterior looks sleek, while the interior appears to be quite large in size. The gaming floor will feature plenty of slot games. There will be a large parking deck next to the venue, making it easy for patrons to park and access the venue.
The casino and resort project is expected to bring around 925 jobs to Lincoln. Along with the addition to the Race Course, the company has plans to bring casino gaming to the Horsemen’s Park facility in Omaha. There are also plans to do the same in Sioux City at a local race track.
Managing Operations
In 2020, it was announced that WarHorse Gaming was working with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association to launch casino gaming at the horseracing tracks in the state. In November, voters of Nebraska approved a constitutional amendment to allow games of chance to be allowed at the tracks.
With the changes, WarHorse Gaming will be in charge of managing the casinos as well as gaming operations. The projects are only in the beginning stages, but expansion is coming. The three casinos will carry the WarHorse brand and it is expected that some sections of the projects will be completed later this year. The casinos will not be fully operational until next year.
Ho-Chunk CEO and President, Lance Morgan, commented on the progress by stating: “Although we’re still early in the process, it’s exciting to see the potential of a world-class gaming operation for the city of Lincoln and the state of Nebraska. Our goal is to build a top-notch facility that compliments horse racing while at the same time offering a resort style casino/hotel on the property.”
