Magic Stars 3 Slots
Our review of Magic Stars 3 slot gives you the low-down on this follow up to a Wazdan classic. Building on the success of the popular Magic Stars, this online slot game offers good graphics, bonus wild symbols, and two lucky stars that can double wins.
One of developer Wazdan’s earliest slots was the basic but well liked Magic Stars. It had a simple 3×3 reel set-up, some of the simplest fruit graphics you are likely to find and five uncomplicated paylines. Though there were just five win lines in the game, Magic Stars had a top payout worth 400 coins and a lot of fun gameplay for gamblers.
The Magic Stars 3 video slot is different to the original in a lot of ways though. It has modern graphics, bonus wild symbols, and the new lucky stars feature. Luckily for AWP gamblers, the 5 paylines of the first Magic Stars have remained intact.
Is this the perfect update on one of the simplest online slots or is the original a better bet? Keep reading our Magic Stars 3 review and find out.
Classic Wazdan Gameplay on Three Reels
Every good I-gaming developer should have a classic slot in its collection. Classic slots are simple games that feature minimal paylines and bonuses. More modern versions of these types of games can include wild symbols or scatters but in most cases, the gameplay is basic and big wins are few and far between.
Our review of Magic Stars 3 found that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. This slot is basic and only features five paylines to bet on. The only difference between Magic Stars 3 and its predecessors is the ability to change the game’s volatility.
You can choose between low, high or standard volatility before starting. If you want to know more about volatility, read our expert guide here. The low volatility setting is good for gamblers looking for regular wins but smaller prizes whereas the high setting is ideal for players who don’t mind risking their balance whilst chasing jackpots.
Coins in the game start at just 0.01 but there is a top bet of 1.00 available. Bets per line are set at 10 coins, so stakes per spin range from 0.10 to 10.00.
Hit the Green Stars for Big Payouts
The Magic Stars 3 slot features an attractive range of star symbols on the reels and they wouldn’t look out-of-place in NetEnt’s popular Starburst slot. There are nine regular stars that pay out if you land three. However, with most symbols appearing stacked, it is possible to hit more than one winning payline on the same spin.
Only orange, blue, and red stars pay 40x the coin bet when you land three of a kind. The rest pay 80x. This sounds impressive for a three-of-a-kind payout but it is tricky to hit.
The developer Wazdan is known for its flat payout structures and it’s not just the gameplay that is simple in Magic Stars 3; the payouts are too.
Look Out for Starry Wilds for Bigger Prizes
During our review of Magic Stars 3, we discovered that players could increase their wins by landing the colourful, star-shaped wild symbols. These wilds will replace any symbol on the reels to complete winning combinations and three wilds will earn you the top prize of 400 coins.
There is no multiplier attached to the wild, but mysterious blue and green globes can appear on the reels at any time. If you land one of these globes, it will double any win you make. This is not a game-changing feature but it will still be a welcome addition for most gamblers.
Play NetEnt’s Starburst for Simple Slot Thrills
Although it’s played on three reels, Magic Stars 3 shares a lot of similarities with NetEnt’s classic Starburst slot. Starburst is a 5-reel game packed with star and gem symbols, many of which appear stacked on the reels. There are only 10 paylines but win lines run from both left to right and right to left to create more winners.
The Starburst wilds also look very similar to the wilds in Magic Stars 3. However, in Starburst, when they appear on reels 2, 3, or 4 they will expand and cover the whole reel. After this it triggers a reel respin, up to a maximum of three times.
If you’re looking for an alternative classic slot game, Microgaming’s Break da Bank is a great choice. This popular 3-reel, 5-payline slot has a jackpot of 2400 coins. Most of the symbols are classic BARs but the Break da Bank logo is responsible for the biggest payouts. Hitting two wild symbols in the game also results in your win being multiplied by 4.
Microgaming followed this up with a 5-reel sequel, Break da Bank Again. This modern online slot has 9 paylines and a top prize worth 375,000 coins. Players can also trigger a free spins bonus round that offers 15,20 or 25 free spins.
Try Magic Stars 3 but Trust in Starburst
Ultimately, our review of Magic Stars 3 learned this was a decent attempt to remake a classic by Wazdan. But is it the best choice for playing slots online? We don’t think so.
It is short on bonus features and the gameplay is simple, but the three volatility levels are a nice addition for players who like to choose their level of risk. Though we found the Magic Stars 3 slot to be volatile, whatever level of variance you pick.
Magic Stars 3 is an improvement on the original slot game but we hope that Magic Stars 4 includes a free spins bonus or progressive jackpot to increase excitement.
