Jurassic Park Slots

Released in 2014, ostensibly to cash in on the then-forthcoming Jurassic World film, Jurassic Park is a video slot game worth roaring about. Based on the original (and, let’s be frank, best) dino movie starring Sam Neil and Laura Dern, the action-packed slot offers gamers 243 ways to win across five reels. Integrating 3D-rendered imagery with fast-paced gameplay, parallax scrolling effects and dynamic audio, the Microgaming slot promises to deliver what it calls “a supreme gaming experience”.

Available on Flash and Quickfire platforms, Jurassic Park includes reels flooded with velociraptors, brachiosaurus, triceratops, dilophosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex. Players can also expect a gamut of bonus features, including free spins, mysterious multipliers and several unconventional wild symbols. Read on for our full breakdown of this spectacular casino game.

Atmospheric Setting

Jurassic Park is one of very few slot games on the market to use parallax scrolling effects, a technical whereby background images move slower than foreground images. This nifty effect undoubtedly amplifies the player’s sense of immersion. The game is set in a darkened jungle, the camera roving across shaded foliage from which a dinosaur might suddenly emerge. Vines and creepers drop down from the top of the screen, and eerie music is interleaved with crackling and chirruping, heightening the mood of expectancy.

The reels, meanwhile, play host to many of the film’s most memorable dinosaurs, including the snarling T. rex. There’s also room for the film’s main characters: Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm and starry-eyed imagineer John Hammond.

Entering the Park

If you’re familiar with other 5-reel video slots, you won’t require a blow-by-blow account of the base game. Essentially you’re doing as you’ve always done, trying to hit matching combinations to win cash. What you will need to know, though, is that the coin range goes from 0.30 to 15, and the total coins permissible per spin is 30. The most you can win, meanwhile, is 6,000x your original stake.

In the base game, the symbols to watch out for include that of Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler: for five-in-a-line these pay 40 and 35, respectively. The pay-offs drop quite steeply thereafter, though this quibble is more than mitigated by the number of bonus features in play.

In the base game, look out for the randomly-activated T-Rex Alert Mode. This plays for six spins, with T-Rex icons appearing behind the reels on the third spin. All in all, there can be up to 35 wilds added to the reels during these half-dozen spins, which can naturally engender significant pay-outs. Keep an eye out for the Jurassic Park logo, which appears stacked on all five reels.

All About the Freebies

The fun features don’t end there. The game’s scatter symbol comes in the form of the mosquito in amber. Three, four or five of these triggers 12 free spins as well as generous pay-outs; five-in-a-line, for example, pays 300. When you hit scatters, it’s not simply a case of taking your free spins and running with them. There are actually a number of free spins incentives available. Some include wild reels and split wilds, others have winning wilds, running wilds, wild multipliers and mystery multipliers. In other words, when you hit some scatters, it all kicks off. The game goes wild – in the best possible way.

The very first time you trigger free spins, it’ll be the standard T-Rex spins feature, which includes wild reels: T-Rex symbols stacked three deep on all five reels. If you enter the free spins feature 25 times or more, though, you can enjoy such perks as the velociraptor free spins feature. This one includes either split wilds or wild multipliers. While split wilds create more winning opportunities, given more winning combos can be created, multipliers come in generous denominations of 4x, 5x and 6x. The velociraptor emblem also stacks three deep on all five reels.

Further free spin features include the brachiosaurus feature (mystery multipliers), the triceratops feature (running wilds, re-spins) and the dilophosaurus feature (winning wilds). There’s a lot to remember, so it’s worth playing Jurassic Park in free mode before you do anything.

Let the Dinosaurs Loose

With an abundance of free spins features, Jurassic Park gives gamers plenty of opportunities to win big. That’s not the only thing to like about this video slot, though; it’s visually stunning, too. Dinosaurs once ruled the earth, but with their connivance, you can become king of the slots in this memorable medium-variance game. Give it a try.
