Sic Bo is originally pronounced as “SEE-BO”
Being a simple dice game based on chance, all you need to do is place your bets on a the table. The dice are shaken and if the outcome of the roll matches your bet, you win. Sic Bo features a variety of possible bets, each with their own payout odds.
This Chinese game may seem intimidating and hard at first glance at the table, but this isn’t true if you learn the basics of it.
Sic Bo Table
The Sic Bo table features a variety of dice combinations that players can bet on. Every possible bet is illustrated along with their associated payout odds, making it easy for new players to quickly pick up the game.
The game is played with three dice and players bet on the outcome of each roll. Originally three dice are shaken in a small bowl and then thrown onto a table. Nowadays Sic Bo dice are “shaken and rolled” using an electronic dice shaker.
SIC BO TYPES OF BETS
There are six main categories of bets that players can make. These are single number bets, two number combinations, three number total bets, triple bets, pair bets, big and small bets. Each bet is illustrated on the Sic Bo table.
Sic Bo Single Number (Dice) Bet
You are betting that the specific number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 will appear on one, two, or all three dice. If it appears on one dice you get paid 1:1, two dice you’re paid 2:1 and there dice you’re paid 3:1.
Probability of hitting 1 Dice: 34.72%, 2 Dices: 6.94%, 3 Dices: 0.46%
If you want to place a single bet, set your chips on any of the sections typically labeled with One to Six. These are found on the bottom row of the Sic Bo table.
Sic Bo Double Bets
On a standard Sic Bo table, there are two sections exclusively for double bets. The first section contains double or a pair of 1s, 2s, and 3s while the second features double 4s, 5s, and 6s. To make a double bet, place your chips on the combination that you prefer.
Going for double bets means betting that two of the three dice will land on the same value. For instance, a double 6 bet will win if the roll shows a combination of 5-6-6, 6-2-6, 6-6-3, or any number with a pair of 6s.
Sic Bo Triple (Any Triple or All ‘Alls’) Bets
The triple bets section is located on the first row of the Sic Bo table and is divided into two parts: any triple and specific triple. The any triple section contains all the six combinations of triple 1s to triple 6s. The specific triple section, on the other hand, contains individual subsections for triple 1s, triple 2s, and so on.
Here you have two options: betting on specific triple or betting on any triple.
Specific triple bet – You are betting that three dice come up with the number from 1 – 6 that you specified, this is the luckiest bet and it pays 180:1 .
Any triple bet – You don’t have to name the triple in this bet, you are just betting that any triple will appear on the 3 dice. This bet pays : 30:1
Sic Bo Two Numbers Combination Bets (Domino)
Here, you bet on the chance of two specific numbers appearing among the three dice. Combination bets cover any two specific numbers appearing on the three dice. For instance, a Combination bet of 3 and 4 will win if the roll results to a 3-8-4, 4-3-2, 3-9-4, or any combination that features a 2 and a 3. Winning a combination bet will give you a 6:1 payout.
Sic Bo Total Bets (three number total bets)
The Total bet is the simplest bet on the Sic Bo table. Here you are placing a bet on what the total of the three dice added up together will be. Possible combinations range from 3 to 18, with 3 & 18 being excluded (covered by the Triple 1 and Triple 6 bets), so you can bet on 4 to 17. The payout odds on each Total bet differ based on the probability of a particular total occurring. The payout odds are clearly displayed on the betting squares on the table.
Sic Bo Small / Big Bet
Small – You bet on whether the total of the 3 dice is between 4 – 10 inclusive.
Big – You bet on whether the total of the 3 dice will be between 11 – 17 inclusive.
If 3 of a kind are rolled then both bets lose.
To place a small bet, put your chips on the left uppermost corner of the Sic Bo table. As for big bets, place your chips on the right uppermost corner of the table.
Sic Bo Summary
At a glance, Sic Bo may seem a little bit intimidating given the variety of bets. A quick glance at the Sic Bo table can be a bit intimidating, when in reality the rules of the game are easy to learn. Many people will draw comparisons between other dice games, like craps. When you get down to it, the game is very simple. Players simply need to select the numbers they think are going to appear on the three dice.
Due to the fact that Sic Bo is a game of chance, there is no real opportunity for players to develop a significant strategy. For that reason Sic Bo is an easy game to learn, but a difficult game to make money on. If you’re looking for a game to play for fun, then Sic Bo is a quick and easy learn.
